Global Vipassana Pagoda is a Pagoda that resembles the popular Myanmar Golden Pagoda- Shwedagon Pagoda and has a capacity of around 8000 Vipassana meditators. This Pagoda is located in India’s financial capital city Mumbai, Maharashtra. This Pagoda is located at Gorai Village (Dhamma Pattana), in the north-west part of Mumbai (Borivali-West). History Of Global Vipassana Pagoda
Global Vipassana Pagoda was inaugurated by former President Smt. Pratibha Patil, the first female president of India, on 8th February 2009. This dome has beautiful architecture and resembles the Vipassana technique of yoga accounts for Buddha’s ideology. The architecture style of this dome is Burmese and construction was started in the year 2000.
Vipassana is a Pali word that means insight or distinct seeing. It includes two quality that is development and calmness of mind. It is one of the oldest concepts which describes the ‘Art of living’. Vipassana can also be stated as a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It is a ten days residential course in which meditators follows a code of discipline as per the philosophy context. This technique of Vipassana was carry forward by Buddha’s disciple with an unbroken chain of teachers.
Global Vipassana Pagoda is a meditation hall that works on the code of conduct for meditation describe by Buddha’s philosophy. This place is peaceful and makes us connected to the supreme energy of body and mind.

How To Visit Vipassana Pagoda?
To visit Global Vipassana Pagoda, one can take a ferry from Gorai Creek (khadi) which takes you to this place. While you travel on that ferry, you could see the golden dome of this Pagoda. The ferry is routed for a popular amusement park called Essel-World and water park Water-kingdom which are in proximal distance from Pagoda. You can also take a local boat service to reach the pagoda.
One can also go from Marve Beach in Malad to Pagoda but it will take a longer time and the fare is also high. You can go via road directly to Pagoda from Bhayandar Railway station. From this station MBMT buses route no. 4 can directly take you to Pagoda. There are arrangements to a path for a wheelchair as well so that one can easily reach to pagoda from Essel World jetty.
Photography is allowed in this place. You are allowed to take the camera inside Pagoda. Visiting Pagoda doesn’t have any charges (free of cost) on entry. You can also access ten days course of Vipassana for free, just you need to book your slots online.
To visit this entire place, a day is enough for exploring the whole Pagoda and to understand its beautiful architecture. It is advised to maintain discipline and to follow the rules so that the decorum of this place is maintained.
